Palestinian Resistance Welcome UNSC Resolution for Immediate Ceasefire

Hamas welcomes UNSC resolution

The Islamic Resistance Movement releases a statement on the recent UNSC call for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip during the holy month of Ramadan

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement – Hamas welcomed the United Nations Security Council’s call today for an immediate ceasefire, in a statement released on Monday.

“We stress the necessity of reaching a permanent ceasefire that leads to the withdrawal of all Zionist (Israeli occupation) forces from the Gaza Strip and the return of the displaced [Palestinians] to the homes they were forced out of,” the movement emphasized.

“We also affirm our readiness to engage in an immediate prisoner exchange process that leads to the release of both sides’ detainees and captives,” Hamas said.

“We call on the Security Council to pressure the occupation to adhere to the ceasefire and stop the war of genocide and ethnic cleansing against our people,” the Resistance movement affirmed.

Hamas reiterated the Palestinian people’s right to establish an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with al-Quds as its capital. It also underlined the Palestinian people’s right to return to their homeland and their right to self-determination, as stipulated in international decisions and international law.

The Islamic Resistance Movement underlined the need to protect the freedom of movement for all Palestinian citizens, as well as the movement of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip, including heavy equipment to be used for rescue and recovery missions for thousands who remain under the rubble created by Israeli bombs.

Hamas expressed its gratitude for the efforts of Algeria and all other members of the UNSC who stood by the Palestinian people and worked on stopping the aggression on Gaza.

The UNSC resolution was also welcomed by the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), affirming that it should be a step toward a sustainable end to the Israeli war, the unconditional lifting of the siege, the return of all displaced people to their homes, and the conclusion of a prisoner exchange deal that would lead to the release of Palestinian prisoners, “and most importantly, the occupation’s commitment to implementing this resolution.”

Popular Front: UN Security Council adopts resolution for an immediate ceasefire, a step towards a sustainable end to the aggression

The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) emphasized that the UN Security Council’s adoption today of a resolution for an immediate ceasefire should be a step towards a sustainable cessation of the aggression against the Gaza Strip, the unconditional lifting of the siege, the return of all displaced persons to their homes, the conclusion of a hostage exchange deal that would free our prisoners from the occupation prisons, and most importantly, the obligation of the occupation to implement this resolution.

The Front considered that the adoption of this resolution by the Security Council despite the attempts to weaken it, trivialize it, empty it of its content and link it to a temporary and not sustainable ceasefire by the US administration and its allies confirms that the whole world is fed up with the Zionist entity in the face of the horror of the genocidal war against our people in Gaza, and that the US administration could not bear the consequences of voting with another veto after the public anger against the US administration’s positions on the aggression escalated.

The Front praised the efforts made by Algeria, along with a large number of countries supporting the cause, to reach this resolution, and its continued pressure to stop the aggression and the war of annihilation in a sustainable manner.

The PFLP concluded its statement by emphasizing that the lesson is in the implementation of this resolution and that the ball is now in the UN’s court to force the occupation to abide by the resolution on the way to adopting a clear decision to stop the aggression completely and sustainably, especially since the occupation has not implemented a single international resolution throughout its history.
