Venezuela Strongly Rejects Dangerous Statements by US and Brazilian Presidents

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela hereby strongly rejects the dangerous statements by the presidents of the United States, Donald Trump, and Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, of March 19th, 2019.

It is grotesque to see two Heads of State with cardinal international responsibilities making apology for war without hesitation, in flagrant violation of the Charter of the United Nations.

The U.S. warlike influence over Brazil and Donald Trump’s supremacist views on Jair Bolsonaro are of great concern. Undoubtedly, both presidents reflect the most retrograde ideas of the peoples of the region, and of world peace and security.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela denounces this threat to international peace and security while calling upon the peoples of the world to be alert to the pretensions of making the South American Amazon available to extraregional military powers.

The Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will continue to work on the basis of international law in order to guarantee the status of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace. No neo-fascist alliance will succeed in defeating the independent and sovereign will of the Venezuelan people, nor will it succeed in sowing hatred and war strategies among the peoples of Our America.
