The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela rejects the results of the Extraordinary Session of the Permanent Council of the Organization of American States (OAS), held yesterday, which adopted a resolution that sets a dangerous precedent in the region, with its pretense to deny the legitimacy of President Nicolás Maduro Moros, reelected by the sovereign Venezuelan people to exercise his authority as the Head of State during the constitutional period 2019-2025.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela condemns the practices of coercion used in our region by the US regime to promote its criminal campaign of aggression against the People and Government of Venezuela and to advance its policies of regime change in our country, in flagrant violation of the law and the purposes and principles enshrined in the Charter of both the OAS and the UN.
In this regard, we appreciate the support of friendly countries that decided not to follow the resolution adopted yesterday, aware that such legal manipulation threatens the right to peace of our peoples and jeopardizes the stability of Latin America and the Caribbean. as a whole.
Likewise, it is worth highlighting the fact that, beyond the coercion openly exercised by the US regime, yesterday’s vote at the OAS did not exceed the number of backers obtained in the past.
The Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela reiterates its unwavering peaceful vocation and its right to choose, within the principle of self-determination, its national authorities whenever the sovereignty resides in the Venezuelan people, who alone legitimize the constituted powers of the Venezuelan State.
