During the General Meeting of the Libyan Tribes and Cities held in the city of Tarhouna on Saturday, the Tribes affirmed their support for the Seventh Infantry Brigade and all the entities that worked to support them in their confrontation with armed militias that control the sovereign institutions in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, and called on the government of reconciliation, formed by Western powers, to dissolve all militias within three days.
The final statement of the meeting, delivered by Abdul Rahman al-Baraki, one of the dignitaries of the municipality of Tarhouna, demanded the handing over of all equipment and weapons of the armed militias to the official bodies of the state, and the referral of those involved in commiting crimes and violations to the competent investigative authorities.
He also demanded the surrender of prisons under the control of armed militias to the official authorities of the state.
He announced their unanimous rejection of any arrangements or security measures that would delay the dissolution of any armed entity or militias in the capital, stressing that Tripoli is the capital of all Libyans.
He called on the Tribes and Cities to form a joint military force to protect the capital under the presidency and one leadership, calling on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to work diligently on all files that support security and stability in the country.
He called on the members of the armed militias to return to their families and abandon everything that would sabotage and destroy the country.
He stressed that the solution of all the crises in Libya begins with disbanding and disarming the militias, declaring their support for the legitimate army, and calling for the return of all its soldiers and officers.
