JANA – Ajilat
The Supreme Council of Libyan Tribes and Cities in the western region considers that what has been happening in the capital city of Tripoli over the last 8 years, is nothing but meddling of the militias and their control over the joints of the state, in the hands of terrorist elements, under the guidance of foreign leaders.
The Council, in a statement published by the council’s general coordinator and member of the council for the city of Ajilat Faraj Ali Balaq, said on Thursday, that these militias used illegal immigration as a source of profit, smuggling drugs and fuel, stealing bank funds, and resorting to foreign intervention, which culminated in the interference in Libya’s internal affairs and a violation of Libya’s national sovereignty.
The statement condemned the incident that took place last Wednesday when foreign warplanes were used to hit the city of Tarhouna and the killing of innocent civilians and the forces of the People’s Army.
The Council expressed its astonishment at the fact that the United Nation’s Mission in Libya left political prisoners of the Jamahiriya regime and the officers of the People’s Army in the hands of the militias, while it was very occupied with illegal migrants and their eagerness to transport them from areas of clashes and to secure their lives–considering such action a double-standard attitude on the part of the Mission.
The Supreme Council of Tribes and Cities in the Western Region emphasized that the western region, with all its tribes, hold the United Nations responsible for the safety of prisoners and detainees in the hands of militias.
The council declared, at the end of its statement, that the tribes will march from all sides to release their sons from these prisons in the event that the UN mission does not assume its responsibilities towards them, confirming that they will stand in line with their brothers in Tarhouna and that any aggression on Tarhouna will be considered as directed to all tribes and cities in the Libyan west.
