Press Statement
The official spokesman of the Libyan People’s National Movement on the criminal attack on the Tawergha camp in Tripoli.
Unfortunately, we are at the gates of the seventh anniversary of the forcible displacement and destruction of the people of Tawergha by terrorist militias, tens of thousands of whom still suffer pain under oppression and persecution in the camps of the diaspora since August 2011. The latest is the exposure of Tawergha refugees living in the Airport Road Camp in Tripoli.
Over the past three days, until Friday evening, 10/08/2018, armed militias of the Presidential Council attacked the residents of the camp and arrested about 100 people, including the elderly and children, according to the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, terrorized families, demolished several huts while their inhabitants were still inside, demanded all residents of the camp’s population of about 2,000 people evacuate in a matter of hours, then proceeded to demolish all the huts of the camp.
Despite the appeal of the camp’s residents to the so-called Presidential Council of the Wefaq (Government of Accord) to discourage armed militias, and despite the denunciation by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the local, regional and international human rights organizations over this attack, militias continue to demolish the camp.
We call upon the Government of the so-called Presidential Council to respect human rights and observe the provisions of international humanitarian law in order to stop this tampering with the fate of the people of Tawergha by armed militias and to provide the necessary protection to the displaced Tawergha and to create the conditions for their return to the city of Tawergha as soon as possible.
We also appeal to the Attorney General’s Office to open an urgent investigation into this heinous crime and to refer the aggressors to trial before the courts.
We call on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya and the UN Security Council to work to lift the injustice imposed on the hundreds of thousands of internally displaced people and forcibly displaced abroad and to release prisoners unjustly detained in secret and public prisons.

للمتحدث الرسمي بأسم الحركة الوطنية الشعبية الليبية بشأن الاعتداء الاجرامي على مخيم تاورغاء بطريق المطار طرابلس .
للأسف ونحن على ابواب الذكرى السابعة لتهجير أهالي تاورغاء القسري من مدينتهم وتدميرها على أيدي الميليشيات الفبرايرية الإرهابية، مازال عشرات الألآف منهم يئنون ألماً تحت وطأة الظلم والإضطهاد في مخيمات الشتات منذ أغسطس الأسود 2011. واخرها ما تعرض له نازحي تاورغاء المقيمين في مخيم طريق المطار بالعاصمة طرابلس خلال الأيام الثلاثة الأخيرة حتى مساء اليوم الجمعة الموافق 10/08/2018 حيث اعتدت ميليشيا مسلحة تابعة لحكومة ما يُسمى المجلس الرئاسي ، على سكان المخيم واعتقلت منهم قرابة المائة فرد من بينهم مسنين وأطفال حسب ما اعلنته بعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم في ليبيا ، وروّعت العائلات وهدمت العديد من الأكواخ على رؤوس ساكنيها وطلبت من جميع سكان المخيم البالغ عددهم نحو2000 نسمة بضرورة اخلائه في ظرف ساعات وإلا ستهدم كافة أكواخ المخيم فوق رؤوسهم.
ورغم مناشدة سكان المخيم لحكومة الوفاق التابعة لما يُسمى المجلس الرئاسي ، بضرورة ثني هذه الميليشيا المسلحة عن تهديدها ، ورغم استنكار بعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم بليبيا ومنظمات حقوق الإنسان المحلية والإقليمية والدولية لهذا الاعتداء ، نفذت هذه الميليشيا المسلحة مساء اليوم الجمعة تهديدها وقامت بإخلاء قسري لجميع سكان المخيم وباشرت في هدم أكواخ المخيم وإزالته.
ونحن في الحركة الوطنية الشعبية الليبية في الوقت الذي ندين بشدة هذه الجريمة النكراء بحق أهلنا من تاورغاء ، نطالب حكومة ما يُسمى المجلس الرئاسي بضرورة احترام حقوق الإنسان ومراعاة نصوص القانون الدولي الإنساني بما يكفل وقف هذا العبث بمصائر أهل تاورغاء على أيدي الميليشيات المسلحة وتوفير الحماية اللازمة لنازحي تاورغاء وضرورة تهيئة الظروف المناسبة لعودتهم معززين مكرمين إلى مدينتهم تاورغاء في اقرب الآجال.
كما نناشد مكتب النائب العام بضرورة فتح تحقيق عاجل في هذه الجريمة النكراء وإحالة المعتدين للمحاكمة أمام القضاء .
وندعو بعثة الأمم المتحدة للدعم بليبيا ومجلس الأمن الدولي إلى ضرورة العمل على رفع الظلم الواقع على مئات الآف الليبيين النازحين بالداخل والمهجرين قسراً بالخارج وإطلاق سراح الأسرى والمعتقلين ظلماُ في السجون السرية والعلنية .
