Detainees who caused violent disturbances in the city of Masaya, along with their relatives, signed an agreement with the National Police, in which they assumed the commitment to promote peace, development, to respect citizens’ right to freedom of  movement,  and to honor the guidelines of the institution of public order.

The agreement was also signed by Commissioner General Ramón Avellán, and the Mayor of Masaya, Orlando Noguera, who called for reconciliation as the only way to bring peace and development.

The detainees were released and freed of charges, demonstrating the ability of Nicaraguans to reach agreements to achieve peace and put aside manifestations of hatred which caused damage to life and the national economy.

The act of signing and release, was made in the presense of a delegation of the Police of the City of Las Flores, who acted as mediators of the agreements reached between participants and representatives of the Sandinista National Liberation Front. In total, eighty detainees  returned to their homes and families.
