THE ALBA-TCP OPPOSES THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF SANCTIONS FROM THE UNITED STATES AGAINST VENEZUELA
The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America – Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) oppose the latest announcement of interventionist, coercive and unilateral sanctions by the U.S. president Donald Trump on July 17, 2017, which violate the principles of International Law and the sovereignty and independence of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.
The announcement of imposing economic sanctions against the Venezuelan people constitutes a clear violation to the principles of International Law and an unacceptable interventionist application of United States laws that in no way contributes to the resolution of the current situation in the country and will hinder its development.
The member countries of the ALBA-TCP oppose those countries that not only disregard the Venezuelan legal system, and the constitutional and legitimate government of President Nicolas Maduro Moros, but also put at risk the status of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace as it was achieved at the Summit of the CELAC in 2014.
