Cuban Commander Fidel Castro was a master of principles and values, a protector of the people, a guide in the struggle against imperial domination, and he taught us how to face hegemonic forces, Bolivian President Evo Morales said on Saturday.
After a minute of silence to honor Fidel Castro, Morales highlighted that the leader of the Cuban Revolution was always with us and taught us to raise our voice against capitalism, which robs us and plunders our natural resources.
His struggle was not only for Cuba and Latin America, but also for the whole world, thus our homage to that great politician, a man who gave his life for the peoples of our planet, said the Bolivian head of State.
His path, Morales stated, is enviable and his example as the man who practiced more solidarity in the world is unattainable.
Fidel Castro was in the vanguard of the projects for Latin American and Caribbean integration, proof of which was his altruistic idea of providing eye surgery for free to 100,000 Latin Americans who needed it.
‘That miracle is Fidel Castro, he is the Cuban Revolution,’ the first indigenous president in this Andean-Amazonian country remarked.
We know what the struggle against imperialism is like, because we suffered its blackmails. Hence, it is vital to follow the example of Fidel and Chavez, because they left us a program for liberation, Morales said.
All countries, he said, have their peculiarities. Nicaragua, Ecuador, Venezuela, Cuba, but Fidel Castro showed us Community Socialism, which is the political system we are building.
Some are celebrating his death, capitalists think that without Fidel and Chavez, everything is over, but as long as there is poverty, inequality and peace without social justice, the struggle continues, Morales underlined.
Fidel Castro is the people’s soldier, the commander of the liberating forces and like the Argentinean-Cuban guerrilla fighter Ernesto ‘Che’ Guevara, his image and example will be remembered throughout the world.
