ALBA-TCP Rejects Renewal of US Sanctions Attacking Venezuela

BOLIVARIAN ALLIANCE FOR THE PEOPLES OF OUR AMERICA
PEOPLES’ TRADE TREATY

 Special Communiqué

ON THE EXTENSION OF UNITED STATES’ SANCTIONS AGAINST VENEZUELA

The member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America- Peoples’ Trade Treaty (ALBA-TCP) reject the renewal of the ” Venezuela Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society Act ” dated 2014, passed by the Senate of the United States, which extends until 2019 the unilateral and extraterritorial sanctions applied by the United States of America against the people and the Bolivarian government of Venezuela.

This act is a legal framework that intends to give sustenance to the illicit Executive Order of President Barack Hussein Obama, declaring Venezuela an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States.

The member countries of the ALBA-TCP repudiate these actions which violate Public International Law, the principles of non-interference in the countries’ internal affairs and the sovereign equality and self-determination of States, which are intended to divert the historical course of freedom and independence of our nations.
