For people in Mexico and Nicaragua what’s happening in Honduras is all too familiar.

A decade later supporters of Andres Manuel López Obrador mobilized by the million for weeks to protest the fraud that handed the election to Felipe Calderón.
A journalist in Tegucigalpa just wrote remarking on how he felt after hearing the declarations of Xiomara Castro claiming victory just before 8.00pm last night.
This journalist remarks, “a huge disappointment after such a huge boost. I went home to watch television and thought I had made a huge blunder and grossly misunderstood Xiomara’s victory speech…..I will try to get to the LIBRE meeting at 11.00 am today. Radio Globo is giving good commentary – it will be interesting to see how long they are allowed to stay on air. Given the mood of LIBRE supporters last night, anything could happen.”
People in Honduras will need all the solidarity they can get against the US allied oligarchy that will certainly order the army and police to beat and massacre without compunction – just as they did after the coup in June 2009 – LIBRE supporters who may protest peacefully in the streets.
The new Police-Military Command created a few months before the elections, carry out a series of illegal raids on offices of Free and prominent leaders of the Resistance of the Honduran population.
