Haiti: Liberty or Death

Henriot DorcentLIBERTY OR DEATH, today it’s our responsibility to actualize their cry in the name of “HOMELAND OR DEATH”.

During his exile in Germany, Vladimir Illich Ulyanov, Lenin, replied in 1902 in his book “Que Faire” (What to Do) that it was necessary to defy workers’ spontaneity and create an organization of professional revolutionaries. The book was an essential weapon in the fight against revisionism, which denied the scientific nature of Marxist analysis. It also highlighted the fact that the working class would not spontaneously become revolutionary through economic struggles for higher wages or shorter working hours at the time.

Today, more than ever, Hayti is undergoing a political, economic, social, cultural, security and humanitarian crisis, and true progressives are asking themselves what to do in the face of the political betrayal of the struggle of the masses by opportunists and henchmen of Imperialism united under the tutelage of CARICOM in a so-called Presidential Council (the new PHTK-Montana and PHTK-Fanmi Lavalas alliance).

We don’t claim to be revolutionaries in this context, as Lenin did, but we feel it is our duty to help revive the anti-imperialist struggle of the masses in Hayti.

Too often, the political silence of progressives is by default complicit with bad governance in Hayti, and politicians representing the interests of the bourgeois class and large landowners recuperate the spontaneous struggles of the proletarian strata and reinforce imperialist domination over Hayti to continue the neo-colonial plundering of the country’s resources through never-ending exploration contracts by foreign companies and the squandering of the State’s meagre financial resources, The PHTK regime’s squandering of funds for the reconstruction of Hayti through the CIRH and the Petro-Caribe program are just two examples.

So our duty as progressives in this context is to:

  • Unceasingly denounce the stateless and the henchmen of imperialism, in order to diminish their influence on the anti-imperialist struggle of the popular masses for national sovereignty and independence, and for a project of integrated sustainable development.
  • Create the subjective conditions for an anti-imperialist revolution for national independence, with a view to eliminating the Antinational State established in 1806.
  • Strengthen the organization of the progressive vanguard through groups using new information and communication technologies (ICT).
  • Raise awareness among the popular masses of the need to seize political power in order to rebuild a politically independent, economically prosperous, socially just and diplomatically non-aligned state as part of a minimum program for building socialism in Hayti.

If our ancestors, during the anti-colonial and anti-slavery struggle, cried” LIBERTY OR DEATH”.

Today it’s our responsibility to actualize their cry in the name of “HOMELAND OR DEATH”.

NATIONAL INDEPENDENCE OR DEATH.

Down with imperialist domination!
